AHeirloom is a family run business, by Amy Stringer-Mowat and Bill Mowat. While getting married in the spring of 2010, they were at a loss for cheese boards that were personalized and sentimental for their reception’s cheese display. They decided to craft the state shaped cutting boards for our home states (Michigan and Connecticut) and added a heart on each of our hometowns. Quite quickly, a number of people felt the same nostalgia for their state borderlines and all fifty became a reality.

Each of the states are manufactured in the USA and provide a decorative reminder of where you are from or where you might wish to be. Each board/order is made and shipped weekly.

The response has been so overwhelmingly positive that we have struck out to produce a line of personalized housewares for their home and yours. They love making their work personal and feel very fortunate to be able to share with all of you. Thank you for so many kind notes and happy wishes, we are having the time of our lives.

OUR PROCESS
We are digital fabricators and each board is drawn using the software techniques that we have been trained in.

Bill has been a partner in a successful fabrication shop in Williamsburgh, Brooklyn since 2005 and provides our company with the tools and skills necessary to handle the volume of orders. The quality of our product reinforces our belief in new manufacturing techniques and our ability to make a living doing what we love whether by hand or through new technology.
