Joyce DeLoca's Profile

About

To assure that you get a unique, one-of-a-kind, high-quality creation, I combine my fascination with vintage and antique jewelry with my passion for using beautiful vintage and antique fabric and my experience as a custom clothier.

I let my materials tell me what they can do. I focus on their beauty, proportion, color, and uniqueness to help me decide what direction to take when assembling materials for any item.

Prices reflect the knowledge, care and time involved in acquiring rare and beautiful components as well as the painstaking effort that combines all of these into the items you see here. Even if I had the elements to do so, I absolutely do not duplicate any piece. If you do see some aspect of a piece that you would like changed to suit you, let me know and I'll let you know what is possible. OR if you spot a bead, chain or material…

If you do see some aspect of a piece that you would like changed to suit you, let me know and I'll let you know what is possible. OR if you spot a bead, chain or material that you would like to have in a different piece, I'll check my inventory to see what we can come up with together.

A few of the pieces here were created for a now-abandoned very-high-end effort under the name of Signe. However, these items are timeless, so I am offering them at a fraction of their original price. Those particular pieces are identified in their description.

The term couture is defined as "fine sewing." Fine sewing is my primary passion and is what led me to making the items presented on A Touch of Couture. I learned the finest techniques through studies with highly regarded artists and technique educators of the present, such as Claire Shaeffer, Kenneth D. King, Martha Pullen, and Susan Kahlje. I am a long-time member of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals and am currently the VP of Business Communications of the New England Chapter.

I have been moving my home and studio over the past few months which has waylaid my productivity. I'm back on board now with new projects under way. Stay tuned!
