About

My bio...hmm. Former teacher, New Orleans native, animal lover, self-taught artist, lifetime crafter.

Perhaps because I grew up in New Orleans, life for me has always been a blend of seen and not seen, a bit of magic and a bit of faith and a lot of laughter even when times are hard. Like most Southerners, I understand the value of a porch and a rocking chair for gaining balance in those hard times.

Somehow, whether it's the warmth of the hot Louisiana sun or the chirping of cicadas at twilight or sweet smell of jasmine in the dark of night...or maybe it's just the rhythmic creaking of that old rocker... beauty seeps in and somehow, things look better. Art for me is spiritual...I hope the work the work touches the viewer and gives them a lift, a laugh, a bit of happiness. I've had collectors tell me that they can feel the love that goes into each piece, and that makes me very happy because I love every piece that leaves me.

My earliest art was collage. I taught workshops, and sold a few large ones. I love sifting through old papers to find just the right look or feel and combining it with paint and text and a bit of distressing till it tells me it's done.

Watercolor is a more recent exploration, and while I love working with the colors, I'm itching to get back to collage.
