A little bit about me: I live in Manitoba Canada and have operated WillowTree Pottery here for more than 25 years. My training is in psychology and education ,and I owe my pottery skills to many potters, students, and workshops that I've been part of over the years. Clay has been a wonderful muse for me for these decades.
I think it is that magical connection of human hand, earth, and fire that has been entrancing people for centuries that draws me to the process and keeps me wanting to learn more and more.
I love glazes that are warm and earthy. I mix all of my own glazes from earth materials and draw most of my inspiration from the prairie landscape around me.

I love glazes that are warm and earthy. I mix all of my own glazes from earth materials and draw most of my inspiration from the prairie landscape around me.
When asked about making art or craft I like to refer to a quote from potter Bernard Leach.
He says:
"Every artist knows that he is engaged in an encounter with infinity, and that work done with heart and hand is ultimately worship of life itself."

I work hard to ensure that all of the functional pottery I produce can withstand the rigors of everyday use and I do not use glazes that contain any lead, barium, chrome,or other materials that might be hazardous to both your health (and my health.) I have to have my hands in it as I create.

I also love to create beads and clay inspired jewelry. My work mainly focuses on clay components that I have created with porcelain or stoneware, as well as a line of copper and silver jewelry that hand been crafted from metal clay.

If you wish to purchase both pottery and jewelry I will ship the jewelry free of charge with the pottery.
