About

I began creating in clay over twenty years ago, almost as long as I have been studying aikido. I enjoy functional art, so I love to make mugs. For a long time my personalized art was only meant for friends, but I enjoy making them so much that I want to share them with the community of those who embrace harmonizing as a way of resolving conflict non-violently.

I use a few specific clays for certain aesthetic differences. I tend to work at the porcelain end of the spectrum, with some stoneware thrown in. The same goes for glazes. I like to work with both opaque and transparent glazes.

My pieces are all handbuilt using slab construction techniques to give them organic qualities unlike those found in pottery thrown on a wheel. Like all handmade art of this nature variations and artifacts from the process of high-firing are to be expected and are what make each piece unique.

Please check my website for items that may not yet be listed here so that I can add them to my shop if you like them. Also. check back as new aikido-themed items will be added regularly.

I hope that those who use these mugs are reminded every day of the things that make life great!
