About

My name is Shay and I love playing with wire, stones, beads and many other wonders of the earth. I live quite rurally, off-grid (solar and water powered electricity), in the mountains of Northern California, where I am blessed to have beautiful mountain views, a great partner, and two loving cats. I find beauty in so many things around me and I hope that comes through in my work.

Artistically, I fluctuate with with what I do (photography, jewelry, painting, etc), but out of my love of gems and minerals I have found that working with gemstones and wire is what most moves me these days. But you never know, you might see some other art work show up in my shop!

Every single bead, stone, or bit of earth that I use is special to me. It is the shape, color, energy, and texture of the stones that motivate me in the creative process. I can't even tell you how lost I can get looking at the smallest gem in my hand, be it a gemstone, pebble, piece of wood, glass or other little treasure. I value and appreciate the things that I use in my work as well as all the labor that has been put into bringing them to me to work with.

As I make my pieces, each one grows and changes along the way. I usually do not have a plan for what will come. Sometimes I pick up a piece of wire and go with it, and sometimes, a stone or two. At other times, I go through my sketchbook of things that have inspired me along the way and I go from there.

You will see lots of spirals in my work because I find them to be one of the most beautiful symbols in existence. For so many they represent a wide array of things. For me, it is as simple or complex as this path we are on in life. They are mighty powerful those spirals!

As I create I feel my heart and energy going into every piece and I can only hope it comes through to you.
