About

From 1950 to about 1975 I did wildlife art of every kind, in preparation for the illustration I'm doing in the the 21st century.

In the early 1960's I had a weekly comic strip in my high school paper characterizing the teachers. I designed the jump circle for the brand new gymnasium floor and the decals depicting the ...school mascot. I went on to Korea during the Vietnam War for 6 years.

In the 1970's I built an art gallery in the new student union building at college using materials from a local museum, featuring local community artists as well as student art, which persuaded the college to ad art to the all science curriculum. My major was Pre-Law.

In the 1980's I did graphic design and illustration for various organizations while working as a system's analyst, and as a building repair contractor.

In 1990 I began doing illustration full time both by hand and digitally for ads and children's books. How could I not? Now, in the 21st Century, I'm designing for license. Looking for partners for my paper and fabric designs, as well as my characters. This is a new adventure for a new century.

I started American Outback Studios in 1986 while living and working in San Diego, California. I did mostly commercial art at that time, including video and small shop promotion. But when I was in San Diego, I started doing watercolor, and eventually pen and ink. I have been using computers since 1979 when my first computer was a mainframe DEC. It had a microprocessor desk model in another building. I had to figure out the programing without a manual and teach 52 scientists how to use it to send their information to the Mainframe in another building. It took me 3 months.

I use both hand made art and my scanner and computer to promote and produce unique art. In conjunction, I am writing "The Scribe, the Diary of an Alien" and illustrating it. It began as a way to produce a portfolio. I hope to finish it sometime in the next year.

I live with my cat, Mickey Mouse in an apartment in the Chicago Area.

This shop is primarily about artwork, and numbered edition giclée prints. My sister shop, GothPunkKitty offers vintage and hand made clothing and accessories that are Gothic in nature but very cute.
