About

Hi and Thank you for checking out my Etsy Shop and Profile!

I am a Ceramic Artist whose journey with clay began 9 years ago in Toronto, Canada.
In my fourth year of Fine Art studies I wanted something to "lighten" my course load. An 'Introduction to Ceramics' course seemed to fit the bill. I had never touched clay before this point...

I quickly discovered that this medium was indeed fun, but its enjoyment came from its many inherent challenges. I switched my major and delved into the 4 year Ceramic Design program where I became proficient in throwing, slip casting (including making my own molds) and handbuilding. I loved form, but swooned when it came to the surface design aspect. I graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2004 where I was awarded the "Armure Award of Excellence" for my Thesis work.
My Thesis work continues to evolve in its original form, the Cube(block). This simple geometric form was chosen as a vehicle for me to explore innumerable ways to treat the surface of the piece.
Some of the words that come to mind that influence and can sometimes describe my work are: Vintage, literature, text, collections, patterns, music, florals, treasures, heirlooms, curiosities, Miro, Picasso, children's artwork and the songs that my two and a half year old daughter sings to me!
I feel truly blessed to be able to live in peace and happiness doing what I love to do!
