Elena Nodel's Profile

About

My name is Elena Nodel, and I am a mom to a very industrious, busy, ever curious and adventurous 3.5 year old girl. Her name is Maya, and you will get to know her very well as she is my ever present inspiration for all my creative ideas. As she grows, she becomes more and more involved in my creative work, and actually does have a say in a final look of any given project. I have a Girly Girl, thus most of my designs are girly. However, lately I have started working on more unisex projects.

People that know me well, were not at all surprised when after our daughter was born I became passionate about knitting. Kids wear is such a personal preference for parents, and I saw little that I liked. So I picked up some needles, and here I am. People that know me well, were not at all surprised when after our daughter was born I became passionate about knitting. Kids wear is such a personal preference for parents, and I saw little that I liked. So I picked up some needles, and here I am. I love working with natural fibers such as cotton or wool, and always try to use them. One thing I don't like doing is seaming, therefore I knit in the round as much as possible. It is great for me and comfortable for kids. And as a result, I usually design my models to be knit in the round from top down.

Over the last couple of years my hobby started to develop into something else all together. I don't just knit - I want to share my love for this art. I do part time teaching at my favourite local yarn store Wool and Wicker. And when I'm not teaching "Beginner Knitter" classes, I like to be there for some rest and relaxation. Nothing says Zen to me like being surrounded by lots of colorful yummy yarn.

You can always find me on Ravelry (my profile there is Anadiomena), a place where I like to see what other people are knitting, showcase my own work, and just simply enjoy to be in touch with people that share my passion for knitting.
