Anne Rea is a self-taught designer and mixed media artist from Greenwich, Connecticut. Her interest in tesserae work was greatly influenced by her heritage as well as her many trips to Italy and France. In addition to her mosaic pieces, Anne also embellishes classical sculpture with wonders from the sea. Recently she has begun to adorn pictorial fabric with vintage jewelry and buttons with whimsical results.
The artist searches estate sales, auctions and flea markets to find interesting antique bases, dishes and vintage items for repurposing. It can take as few as eighteen dishes for a small mirror and as many as six hundred to cover a large piece of furniture. She has transformed tables, mirrors, dressers, benches and doghouses. Commissioned pieces have been personalized by incorporating clients heirloom dishes.
Anne has produced signage (duplicating company logos)…
