Welcome to Arcane Memory Design!

Let me start by thanking you for taking interest in my art, as well as, supporting the world of art and craft. I am so excited to join all of these very wonderful artisans in our venture to share our arts with the world through etsy. It makes me more than happy to see a site giving us the opportunity to make a business out of our passions and joys. I know this is a fun venture for us all, artisans and clients alike.

About

Welcome to Arcane Memory Design!

Let me start by thanking you for taking interest in my art, as well as, supporting the world of art and craft. I am so excited to join all of these very wonderful artisans in our venture to share our arts with the world through etsy. It makes me more than happy to see a site giving us the opportunity to make a business out of our passions and joys. I know this is a fun venture for us all, artisans and clients alike.

The Meaning Behind my design/ shop name:

The name of my shop, Arcane Memory Designs refers to a memory of things magical, mystical, and soulful! To me arcane is a knowledge of the eternal in human kind and the world in which we live. That magic spark that informs all things creative. The passion, or said in another way the Eros, soul, that drives all things. Eros is the most important force in the life of an artist; it is the motivational force, which makes us move. It is one of the most truly divine aspects of being human, the thing that gives us our ‘godly’ quality.

I work to imbue each of my pieces with this meaning. It is my desire to reflect magic, passion, and soul in all of my creations with the intention of bringing that spark into the life of my clients. If anything these pieces will serve as a reminder, a memory, of something eternal within all of us.

Materials I love to use:

I love using images from magazines, books, or any other resource that may get thrown away after use. I utilize resources, such as, thrift stores, antique/ vintage shops, book stores, habitat for humanity, bead shops, and things gifted to me. Etsy has also been a great resource for materials. I upcycle, revamp and reuse when I can. In the end, I gather any materials I'm drawn to because of their quality, look, and significance.

I love adding extra chain details and beading to really make the jewelry pop! All those added details give the pieces a more fun mystique! Some of my favorite beading materials are; Czech glass, African trade beads, vintage glass, milagros, talismans, pearls, bone, wood, brass, copper, feathers and stones.

My favorite things to make and what inspires me:

I'm a romantic, philosopher, artist, poet and scholar so I'm often inspired by nature, romance, mythology, folklore, novels, culture, different eras, social movements, art movements and all things beautiful!

A lot of my hobbies are my passions. Including but not limited to reading, collage, mixed media (assemblage and altered art). Writing (research, journals, letters, and poetry), gardening, photography, theater, dancing, hiking, camping, sailing, and climbing trees. Laying in the grass on a sunny day, travel, adventure, conversation, singing, and discussion/ debate. Jewelry came natural because of its assemblage/ collage quality. In a lot of ways these passions go on to inform my work. Even when I create packaging ideas, the notes included with my pieces or photo design have my self and what I love in every aspect of my products.

I particularly love creating collage pieces with beautiful and fun images out of quality materials. I also have a special love for making talisman pieces and charm pieces.
It means a lot to me when I think one of my pieces will hold a sacred and sentimental value for the one adorning it. That it could invoke a feeling of magic in their lives and one day be an object when looked upon creates an emotional response in them. It makes my heart happy to know something I made will be connected to a person's memories and hold within it a sacred power for them. I am also pleased to add something beautiful and possibly romantic to another human being's life.

A little of my present life and story:

I am a young woman, currently in Asheville, NC, with my dog companion, Bella, and boyfriend, Byron. We live in a cute little apartment where we love to read, watch movies, cook and be creative. My studio is also presently in our apartment. I’m originally from Gulfport, Ms where I spent 21 years of my life before moving to North Carolina. I have lived in Asheville for 7 years and before that Jamestown, NC for almost 3 years.

I received an Associate Liberal Arts Degree with a concentration in Literature from Guilford Technical Community College, in Jamestown, NC. Then I went on to complete a B.A. in Philosophy with a focus in Ethics from the University of North Carolina in Asheville.

I love the opportunity etsy has provided for artisans to share their work nationally and internationally. This is a truly wonderful online site and I'm grateful to be a part of it!

Thanks for visiting the shop and please let me know if you have any questions! I'm always happy to help.
