About

Thank you for stopping by Aria Couture! I've been sewing for 30 years, since the age of 3, and stopped using patterns 17 years ago. My skills include custom gowns, film reproductions, working with various silks and cottons, including tricky velvets, as well as crocheting, and hand-embroidery.

Aria Couture is a registered business in the state of California and has physical presence in Washington and Oregon, so I apologize for having to collect sales tax for California and Washington (no sales tax for Oregon shipments as Oregon has no sales tax).

For the sake of full disclosure, while we are a strictly-no-smoking household, we do have pets, two dogs and two cats, and I can not guarantee that there will never be dander. I take all reasonable precautions to prevent them from coming into contact with my materials, but will not re-home them, and so there will be the chance of airborne dander.

When possible, to save both money and the environment, I use recycled packaging materials. It makes no sense to spend a few dollars on a brand new box when a recycled one works just as well. Since the cost of packaging is built into the cost for items, it is your money I'm selling. No seller will routinely use flashy decorations and pay out of their own pockets. Between fancy packaging that is very likely to be thrown away, and saving you money while cutting down on waste, I think the latter is the better idea. When I buy, I know I don't like the thought of paying an extra few dollars on what is most likely going to be tossed when I get it unless I can reuse it to pack up someone else's order.

So please understand that your order is most likely going to arrive simply packaged, though your items will be protected. If guaranteed new and fancy materials are desired, please let me know and I'll see what I can do without the cost going up.

NOTICE:

Something happening more and more on etsy is "buyers" putting something in their carts, checking out, then not following through on payment (which is why "buyers" is in quotes - they're not really buying anything). We sellers pay fees to list our items, and fees on items when they sell. Etsy doesn't wait for us to get paid to charge is. We are charged right away.

If you have no intention of paying, you are not welcome to buy from my shop. I fact, I can't think of a single seller on etsy who I know personally (and I know many, plus am in some etsy groups) who would want you to "buy" from them either.

Sorry to be a hard-ass on this, but it's getting tiring chasing down "buyers" who disappear and never reply, or who turn around and tell you they don't want the item anymore. Since retaliatory feedback can happen, sellers are often too timid to leave negative feedback.

I'm going to be blunt. If you're not going to pay, get off of etsy.

Etsy requires that users disclose their other accounts and accounts they are somehow connected to. This active account is mine:
AriaCoutureForKids

My HUSBAND'S account is:
BCityPhotography
He hasn't yet used it, but since we're connected and it's an active account, Etsy says I have to disclose that too.
