About

Hi, my name is Flavia and I was born in Lima, Peru` from creative, charming parents. Spent my youth in Italy, came to America to further my education and here i am. Although I have tried my hand at most media, paper speaks to me. I quill, coil, collage, paper mache`, pulp sculpt and constantly looking for more ways to play with paper, but always revert back to coiling for the end result mesmerizes me.

The tickets then were made of thin paper, and dad used to roll them into a little tube like shape and while I was lost in the movie, he would tickle my ear with it and make me jump. Although I have tried my hand at most media, paper speaks to me. The tickets then were made of thin paper, and dad used to roll them into a little tube like shape and while I was lost in the movie, he would tickle my ear with it and make me jump. The rolling of paper became a habit. I graduated from small ticket to the grocery store receipts and kept finding these rolled up sticks everywhere, then I would coil them for fun and throw them away. One little step of progression at a time and here I am, with the birth of the baskets in 2008 and now into large sculpted pieces and coiled paintings.

I am one of the original recyclers, a sustainable artist from birth if you will, creating all my art from recycled items I used to salvage, recycling old t-shirts and turning them into new pieces. painting on found objects and playing with paper. In all my work I am very sustainable, I discard very little and I love to recycle, up-cycle and be as eco friendly as I can.

I currently live in SC musing with incredible artists, my life is wonderful, my community is loving, creative and fun.
