About

My name is Karen Lynn and I am the hands, eyes, and imagination behind Artifacts et Cetera.

As you explore my creations...

You will uncover a trove of handmade jewelry and find that some pieces have an intricate tribal flair, while others, with their earthy hues and clean, simple lines, embody a modern Zen approach. I love natural materials... stones, wood, and bone... and endeavor to bring out the best qualities in each as I incorporate them into pieces of jewelry.

You will be invited to examine the tiny scenes I've created on canvas, slate, and wood. I tend to work rather small when I paint.

This is in part because it helps to ensure that I finish one project before a new one captures my imagination, but also because I enjoy looking closely at things and small paintings encourage a close, personal relationship with the piece. There is something almost intimate about a painting that is meant to be viewed close to your face rather than from across the room. I hope you will enjoy the experience.

You may immerse yourself in the colors and textures of my hand knit scarves and necklaces. Some are richly artistic while others are fun and whimsical... all were a joy to create and will be a thrill to wear.

And finally, there is a chance that you may uncover some pieces of my too-large collection of antique and vintage odds and ends (mostly books and dishes) that I have finally convinced myself to part with.
