About

My newest jewelry ventures include designing and making Tree of Life Pendants. These pendants are easily customizable to fit each individual's family. I can make the trees using any number of gemstones for the leaves. I can also hang little jewels from the trees to indicate birthstones of children. I have even hung a ribbon charm from a tree for a cancer survivor. There are so many wonderful things I can do with them. Please let me know if you would like one custom made for you.

I have been working on adding stainless steel to designs to offer hypo-allergenic jewelry for those who can't wear precious metals. Please contact me if this is an issue for you. I also carry nickle free & lead free ear wires and stainless steel clasps that I can use on your jewelry purchases.

On January 11, 2010 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had a bilateral mastectomy on Jan. 21st. I then went through 8 treatments of chemotherapy. I had reconstruction and my ovaries removed to remove the hormones from my body. My jewelry helped to keep me going throughout this whole journey. I have so many wonderful customers who have been very patient with me through this whole process. Thank you to all of you for your words of encouragement and prayers. I am cancer free at this point and hope to stay that way.

I have been making jewelry for a number of years now. Of course the more I make, the more I learn, and the better I get. This experience shows in the quality and design of my pieces. For my lanyards, it has taken me a while to come up with a unique and beautiful design pattern that I feel works well and looks great. I use high quality beads in all of my pieces. Making jewelry has become a passion for me. I learn new techniques and try new stuff everyday. I am going to present more wire work in the coming year. Most recently I have started making a new line of bracelets that are dual strand with crystals. I hope to get some of them listed on here.

If you are a fan of my chain mail then you will be happy to know that I make all of the rings myself. I hand coil the wire to create the rings. Then I use a dremel type saw to cut the coils. By making my own rings I am not limited by color or metal in my creations. The wire I use is either clear coated to retain the finish or color coated. The base metal is copper. The coating allows me to be able to actually wear these pieces. My skin eats through most metals except gold. So if you have metal allergies, you should still be able to wear these pieces.

Please visit my website at www.karensartistictouches.com. I list all the shows I am participating in on my website so you know where to see my jewelry. I have a lot of jewelry that I do not list on here due to the items being one-of-a-kind.
