Ashleigh's Profile

About

My biggest inspirations come from spending my childhood/teenage years on the beaches of Weekapaug, RI. It is my intention to move back one day, so my creations help tide me over until that happens.

Ashleigh's Apartment is an idea that has been brewing since the age of 11 when I began packaging bobby pins and hair clips that I spruced up using sparkles, ribbon and nail polish. (I recently stumbled upon some of these past creations; printer quality has really come a long way.)

I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2004 with my A.A.S. in Fine Arts. From there I continued onto Binghamton University where I received my B.A. in Studio Arts. In 2009 I acquired my NYS Teaching Certification in Art Education following the completion of the Art Education Post-Baccalaureate program at Buffalo State College…

I live in Albany, NY with my boyfriend and kitty. We relocated to the area in June 2010 when he accepted a position with a local hospital. I must say, it's a great place to live and be located in- "The cross-roads of New York State" I like to say, though it really is a cross-roads for the northeast. Because of our close proximity to the Adirondacks, it's allowed us to further our love of camping, hiking and the outdoors. From the second to last weekend in July to the first weekend of September, we are regulars in attendance at the Saratoga Race Track. We pretty much hibernate in the winter- which allows me to constructively use my time creating things.

I'm also happy to announce that I joined Etsy as an Admin in July, 2012. My Admin shop is here:

My kitty is named KiKi. She's my little furry 4 legged shadow that I rescued from a harsh Buffalo winter in 2008. She's a "cow cat" and looks somewhat like a double-stuffed Oreo (black on her ears and the top of her head and her tail and white in-between). I'm mentioning her because she deserves some credit in helping out with the shop... She keeps my lap warm and tries to keep my workspace tidy (and by tidy I mean running off regularly with ribbon scraps- you really must see her food and water bowl).

Here is my shop, tHe sPottedD KittY, insipred by the Ki full of all things whiskered and whimsical:

I hope you enjoy wearing and using my creations as much as I have enjoyed making them.
