Welcome, I lived with artists all my life. I cherish all art.
Studying art at Stony Brook University, NY, Art History weighed heavily in our curriculum. I use materials and techniques from long ago, making my paints from dry powder pigments mixed with the particular paint vehicle.
1. When I make oil paint, the dry pigments are mixed with an oil + turpentine medium.
2. I make watercolors with gum Arabic from the Sudan Acacia Senegal trees.
3. For tempera paint, the color powder pigments are mixed with egg yolks.
My techniques are the same techniques used by the ancient Egyptians 4,000 years, monks painting Icons 1000 years ago and Renaissance artists in the 1400-1500's.
I use gold leaf in celebration of Byzantine church decorations.
You will see a resemblance of world history in my art.
