A few years ago I was sitting on a secluded Hamptons Beach when I looked over and saw what looked like the face of a statue sticking out of the sand. Curious, I explored and found it was just a rock. As the summer went by, each day new and interesting rocks washed up, I must have collected 100 of them.
During this same time, I began writing as I went through a difficult period in my life. The writing turned into a book, True Identity, pure Jackie Collins on the surface as my supermodel characters question their exciting lives. As the summer progressed (and actually for years before that fabulous summer), I'd learned quite a bit about my true self on this personal quest. I read Joseph Campbell, Karen Armstrong, the gospels and gnostic gospels, Plato, Augustine and many many others.
