My passion to creating jewelry started out as trade beads collection accumulated when working in Subsaharan Africa. Back home, with less accessability to trade beads, I expanded my interest by adding vintage glass beads produced for fashion jewelry, and other antique or vintage components as pendants, brooches and chains. Soon I had a beautiful collection from all over the world, and I love to know about history and stories of my items. I am not a real collector in that I hoard systematically, but items added are selected because of beauty. I disliked all these treasures to be hidden in boxes and drawers, so I started to create my first necklaces and very soon I have come to love jewelry design.

I am inspired by the particular nature of the beads themselves, fascinated by combining different materials, vintage and contemporary, the endless variety of colors and shapes into unique and diversified designs. Result is a collection of artisan jewelry ranging from ethnic to classic and contemporary, from casual, but upscale fashion jewelry to more sophisticated pieces. Most of my jewelry is one-of-a-kind, I dislike to make a design repeatedly (with few exceptions, I may make earrings or even a necklace twice). I love to share my knowledge, you’ll find information and history about the beads I used in the item descriptions. I started to work with wire, make my own earwires, bails and sometimes clasps. And I am picky with respect to my jewelry. I.e., I carefully quality control the material I use, my earrings are of the same length, as are my necklaces at both sides of the center.

I live in the countryside east of Cologne in an old half-timbered house together with my partner and two parakeets. I love old things, visiting flea-markets, travelling, reading, riding bike, and I am always curious to listen what people, nature and things have to tell.
