Artist Statement:
Angela Rossi, born and bred in Los Angeles, is the artist behind Beat Up Creations. She is a self-taught, outsider artist that works with recycled, abused, broken and forgotten items creating altered antique plates, raw assemblage sculptures and mixed media portraits.

Technique:
Angela finds vintage and antique plates at local thrift stores, antique malls, auction houses and estate sales. Using a digital ceramic decal process she adheres her original mixed media portraits to the old plates making a new and unique portrait plates. Her mixed media portraits are made using various processes including collage, painting and digital editing.

Training:
Angela is a self-taught artist teaching herself a variety of arts and craft skills through years of trial and error. Her mother was an antique dealer and she gained both respect and knowledge about antique plates. Fascinated by old portrait plates with demure ladies on lavish gold and hand painted plates she decided to focus her skills on making a new and quirky style portrait plate.
