Rebecca Rees' Profile

About

About Me:

My name is Rebecca Rees. I studied illustration and design at The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of Japanese ‘sumi-e’ which attempts to capture the life spirit of the subject with as few strokes of the brush as possible. In my fine art work I often paint bamboo as a subject - I love its grace and beauty. I only work with traditional paper and techniques: NO DIGITAL WORK. I paint with ink, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencils and whatever else inspires me at the moment.

My professional background is 20 years in the animation industry, most of those years having been spent at Walt Disney Feature Animation working alongside luminaries such as John Musker, Brad Bird, Jerry Rees, Joe Ranft, Randy Cartwright, Henry…

My professional background is 20 years in the animation industry, most of those years having been spent at Walt Disney Feature Animation working alongside luminaries such as John Musker, Brad Bird, Jerry Rees, Joe Ranft, Randy Cartwright, Henry Selick, and Glen Keane, some of whom comprised the original “Rat’s Nest”.

During my years at Disney, I worked as an animator, storyboard artist and in animation development. My selected film works include: “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, “Mickey’s Christmas Carol”, “The Fox and the Hound”, “Lady and the Tramp II – Scamps Adventure” and “The Chipmunk Adventure” . I was also a Directing Animator on “The Brave Little Toaster”.
