I have always enjoyed making handmade items, especially as gifts for others. However, all of my life I was only able to copy what I saw around me or make something from an existing pattern. It didn't matter what I tried - baking, playing piano, knitting, cross-stitch, drawing - I was always a copy artist. I've been amazed by the talented people I knew that could create art without something to copy.
Then I found jewelry making and was finally able to make my very own designs. I can't describe the feeling! It's like my head is going to pop with all of the ideas swirling around up there. Every time I learn a new technique there are four more out there I'm itching to try. I'm just a beginner and know I have a lot to learn. Oh, that's another thing - unlike a lot of things in my life learning how to improve my jewelry has been so much fun. I don't feel like I'll ever reach a point where it's…
