I live in Brisbane and am an artist also working as a designer. After exploring 2d for most of my life, I revisited clay one day in the back yard with the kids (my own and a few neighbourhood kiddies added in). Started going through the motions learned at art school a couple of decades earlier. Knead, roll, coil, shape. Knead, roll, coil, shape.
Had a nice little figure growing in front of me, but was running out of clay... Pinch a bit from this kid, 'borrow' a bit from that one, and all done. I just did it to see if I still could, but haven't been able to stop ever since. It is a healthy vice though (mostly).
I am very concious of the environmental cost of 'things'. My electric kiln is powered by energy collected from the sun. No toxic glazes/colours are used. All items in my shop are inert and completely harmless to the environment once finished. I…
