About

Hi there! I'm a sassy little miss who is ready to share my love of sewing and green-living with the world of etsy! I taught myself how to sew several years ago and it was love at first stitch. I also live in the upper peninsula of Michigan where I am constantly reminded of the beauty and wonder of nature- sparkling lakes, vibrant blooming trees, singing birds and chattering critters. In such a go-go-go era, it's easy to fall prey to a "disposable" life style. Everything is individualized into one-time use packages. Once your trash fills up, someone even takes it right from your curb and you never have to think about it again. Well, there's my problem I guess. I do think about it again. And that's where my reusable snack and sandwich bags and sandwich come into play.

Just a few interesting facts:
* About 1 million plastic bags are used every minute.
* A single plastic bag can take up to 1,000 years to degrade.
* When plastics break down, they don't biodegrade; they photodegrade. This
means the materials break down to smaller fragments which readily soak up
toxins. They then contaminate soil, waterways, and animals upon digestion.

Think of how many plastic baggies you've gone through in the past year... my Bettie Lu snack bags and sandwich wraps will not only save you money for years to come, but will also make a positive impact on the world around you (hey, and they look snazzy, too!). Everyone can make a difference!

Bettie Lu bags are made with beautiful, high quality cotton prints on the exterior and stitched with sturdy Gutermann thread throughout. For the lining, I only use ProCare waterproof fabric which is 25% polyester (on the backing), 75% vinyl (the part that touches your food). This fabric is foodsafe - it is BPA, phlalate, and lead FREE! It also meets duty, laundering and material safety standards for use in medical and institutional products - it is CPSIA compliant and very tough & durable - good for 300 industrial washes or 1,000 home washings!!!
