About

I started out in life training as a fine artist which I then taught for a number of years - in between bringing up four children.

Later on, I became involved in the photographic and film industry as a stylist and art director. This eventually inspired me to set up "Surfaces" a London based company providing a prop hire stock resource of unique background and surface materials for photography and film, many created by myself . I take pride in the fact that Surfaces was I believe a first of it's kind, it ran successfully for many years.

Latterly I have turned my somewhat restless hands to creating fashion accessories, clothes have been another passion running through my life.

As always with me, what starts out as an idea, either for my own amusement, or to satisfy a yearning for something that anticipates the trend, inevitably seems to end up attracting a demand from others – many years ago, in an early foray into this world, I devised a technique of creating 40's style 'fur' crochet jackets, they were very popular at the time and much copied subsequently.

This time around I became interested in making hats, again working in crochet, chic crocheted cloche hats and other styles - although my interest in jewellery has rather distracted me from the hats, I do hope eventually to feature these also in my Etsy shop.

I like learning new skills, working with new materials, often then to find ways to subvert them for my own creative end. It was one of my recent trips to see family in the far east that led me to discover the fascination of semi-precious gemstones, I have now become enthralled and see in them endless creative possibilities to keep me occupied. This is the work I have decided to feature here first in the hope it will be well received.
