About

I spent most of my childhood summers with my Grandparents, camping, going to the lake, & loved going to local craft fairs/shows with my Grandma. My family was pretty good about keeping me entertained with the outdoors, arts, crafts, & books instead of shoving me in front of a t.v., so I've always had some little project or adventure going on. I remember sitting in my room painting pop tabs with different nail polish so I could make a unique accessory for my back pack...Always been a junk to jewels kinda girl with a love of nature & it shows in my shop!
I love finding old jewelry, unique shells, random findings, worldly coins, tearing it apart, sanding it down, drilling holes in it, & making special one of a kind art with it all. I have some really cool cigar label jewelry coming out soon!
I moved to Okinawa, Japan in 2009 and (after 12 years) decided that I didn't want to work in the restaurant/bar…

I moved to Okinawa, Japan in 2009 and (after 12 years) decided that I didn't want to work in the restaurant/bar industry anymore. A friend & my husband built me a beautiful work bench for my birthday that year & Bijo Designs was born! I've always been fascinated with Japanese culture & writing....Bijo is an old school term for, "Beautiful Woman" and isn't that what jewelry & accessories are all about? Feeling & rocking the beautiful in you!
Because of the industry, I have become amazing at networking. So I do a lot of collaborating with local artists to come up with beautiful, one of a kind, handmade art. Hence the gorgeous leather pieces (Brathless | Anshare Project), the teak jewelry boxes (THF | Theresa), & the handmade tatami purses (Tom | Saryae).
Everything in my shop is designed or handmade by me. (All is 100% handmade!!)
