Blanche Evans' Profile
At a very early age I was privileged to learn the art of knitting and crocheting. It was during my summer vacation, as I anticipated attending fifth grade at Emlen Elementary School, Philadelphia, PA, that my childhood friend and neighbor, Angela Johnson, gave me my first lessons. Angela had been taught by her mother, an avid needle arts expert. It was my fond memories of these early lessons that have inspired me to host annual needle arts parties with my dear friends. Many of them had never held a needle before and have discovered an art they can get excited about. On a Saturday afternoon we gather with our baskets of yarn and needles and enjoy learning new stitches and beginning new projects.
Imagine having an idea and being able to craft it into a tangible, functional piece of art that captures your senses of sight and touch. I feel this excitement each time I create one of my "Garments made with threads of love"…
