About

Since childhood, I've been enamored with all things sparkly, shiny and glittery. I have Grandma to thank for that. I was mesmerized by her Japanese lacquer jewelry box and the gaudy baubles it contained. When she passed, each child and grandchild was allowed to choose their favorite pieces from this box. Different pieces held different memories for each of us. However, there is one piece that all of Grandma's girls felt connected to. It embodied Grandma's spirit. I think we all have the same memory of sitting on her lap with our head against her chest listening to her steadfast heartbeat as we toyed with the ruby-eyed pewter owl pendant. Its articulated filigree body moved back and forth while its tassel-like chain tail felt slinky and cool...a contrast to Grandma's warm heart. Well, this cherished necklace was nowhere to be found which is probably a good thing. It might have caused a lot of trouble!…

This is where the story of BlissfulLee truly begins. The disappointment of not finding Grandma's owl necklace led me on a journey of "blissful" discovery. I've scoured flea markets, thrift shops, vintage boutiques, estate sales and online storefronts looking for a replica. I've looked at hundreds of images and conducted numerous web searches to no avail. As a pleasant concurrence, I was introduced to many extraordinary pieces of costume jewelry history. Of course my affinity for all things sparkly compelled me to acquire as many of these baubles as my pocketbook would allow. I love the vintage collection I've amassed, but my home is too small to be the dwelling of a sparkly, shiny, glittery trinket hoarder. So, I'm offering the gorgeous earrings, brooches, bracelets and necklaces to other vintage refinery aficionados.

PS. I'm still in search of Grandma's necklace.
