Hi, my name is Elissa Campbell and I’m a bookbinder.

For me, bookbinding really is an addiction and it started at an early age. I made my first book in the 2nd grade - “The Dog Who Couldn’t Bark”. It was made using oak tag, construction paper, and staples. Not archival by today’s standards (it’s a bit yellow now), but I love it dearly.

I really enjoy making blank books – each book is meant to be transformed by the owner. I consider it “accessible art.” The owner of one of my books will put his or her own life experiences into the book, making it truly one-of-a-kind. I think it’s my training in Art Therapy that drives me to create objects that allows others to tell their stories.
