About

I am a 5th generation woodworker/ craftsman born and raised in the North Woods of Wisconsin. As a kid, my father would include me in most of his projects teaching me a lot about how things work and how to build things that would last. As I grew older he gave me tougher tasks and let me figure out how to complete them on my own. This gave me the confidence and knowledge to design and build anything I can imagine.

In college I received a degree in Industrial Design from the University of Wisconsin- Stout, while in college, I worked and learned from a relative of mine who is a world renowned woodworker and author of many woodworking books. Upon graduation I had gained great knowledge of both woodworking and design which brings me to where I am today.

I moved to Colorado in 2010 to launch my business and try a new part of the country. While living here I went back to school and became a Wildland Firefighter for a local department. I would work there and make things on my days off. Now I work for the U.S. Forest Service as a Wildland Firefighter, fighting fires from late spring to mid fall and building and creating things for boulderELEMENTS the rest of the year.

I enjoy designing things that will live effortlessly in the home environment. I feel like it is a never ending challenge to create pieces that are appealing to people while keeping my own identity as a designer. I try to combine different elements in my pieces through material selection and visual presentation. The combination of these elements are what make my work unique and appealing.

Welcome to my Store, BoulderELEMENTS. Please look around and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. If you have any ideas that you would like to come to life, I would love to make that happen. THANK YOU for reading and I look froward to working with you in the near future.

Thanks,
Andy Kautza
