Damien Thomas' Profile

About

The artist behind Curious Menagerie Designs is I, Damien Thomas. I have lived in central Minnesota for over 20 years. I have been drawing, crafting, and making jewelry for most of my life. And I have always had a passion for animals. As of now, I am currently working on a degree in biology, while working towards my doctorate of veterinary medicine.

After being diagnosed with a myriad of disabilities during my teenage years, I decided crafting was the only way I could think of to try to support myself and my service animal. I not only sell my works to support myself, but also because I exuberantly enjoy my craft, and wish to share that with others.

At the current moment I share my home, my life, and begrudgingly my bed, with a white German shepherd named Abel. We also share a house with a pembroke Welsh corgi named Tahnee…

We also share a house with a pembroke Welsh corgi named Tahnee. While these are the only pets I currently room with, I have lived with many fish, hamsters, horses, and dogs during my life. I even had a cat for about a week (I had to donate them to a different household because my father was allergic).

Starting Curious Menagerie Designs has encouraged me to learn many more skills because I have many more ideas of things I wanted to offer. Some of these include: Wire wrapping, leather-working, how to repair feathers, and sewing. I am continuing furthering my leather-working education, but am also beginning to learn taxidermy techniques, silversmithing, metalworking, and chainmailling.

Someday I hope to work at a veterinary practice and run a dog breeding and exotic animal farm.
