April Melnick Grinaway's Profile
I make my own glass beads with a technique called lampworking. First I melt a glass rod in the flame from a torch onto a steel rod. While rotating the rod, I add designs and shape the molten glass. They're placed in my digital controlled kiln to anneal slowly, which ensures strength and durability. Each bead is cleaned and inspected for imperfections before I consider them in my designs. My beads are made with love, thought and patience. The entire process is a work of art. From the start of making a glass bead to the finishing touches on a completed piece.
Photographing my own work is another skill I enjoy. It's always a challenge to capture the beauty of a finished piece in my photos.
Peace and love,
