About

About me:
I am a thirty-something living in gorgeous, rainy Portland, OR. I'm an ex-English major, a big fan of Lou Reed, and a coffee addict/beer snob. I'm married to a software developing ex-punk rocker, and together we enjoy things like Netflix marathons and adventure board games. We've got two sons, ages 4 and 2.

About The Tiny Ox:

In my experience, shopping for baby boy items was sometimes fun, often meh, and usually torture. If I had to choose one more time between monkeys and cars motifs, I was gonna puke. So, in 2010, I started making my son cool bibs, blankets, and cloth diapering accessories myself!

Finding fabrics that did not push stereotypical "macho" interests, and instead reflected our own dorky or alternative interests, became a bit of an obsession.

Eventually, I was making so much stuff (for the boys as well as my two nieces), and had quite the fabric stash, that I decided, "Why not sell these things to other parents like us??? Surely we are not the only ones tired of monkeys and dumptrucks!"

And that's how I started The Tiny Ox (nee Bushytails back then), where you will never, ever find a monkey. But you might find creepy skulls, bicycles, 8-bit characters, and talking sushi. I sew for both boys and girls now, so whether you're looking for a baby shower gift, a baby or toddler stocking stuffer, or just something for yourself, I have something for everyone! Welcome! :)
