Since graduating from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, I have worked as a freelance illustrator for numerous publications around the country and internationally. I have also created artwork for advertising, CD and book covers, murals, television, and packaging.

My first children's book, Polkabats and Octopus Slacks: 14 Stories, published in 1998 by Houghton Mifflin, was featured on NPR and read by Daniel Pinkwater and Scott Simon.
It became a best seller and won numerous awards.
I have since written and illustrated many other books including: Dutch Sneakers and Fleakeepers : 14 More Stories, , Tippintown– A Guided Tour, Soup for Breakfast, Hallowilloween, Boy Wonders, and Flamingos on the Roof: Poems and Paintings - a 64 page collection of verse and artwork was also featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition and debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best…

My most recent project, a doodle activity book titled Dragon, Robot, Gatorbunny (Pick One , Draw It, Make It Funny! ) is just out from Chronicle. My next picture book, Pirateria– The Wonderful Plunderful Pirate Emporium is coming in July 2012 from Atheneum.

I illustrated two books for Getty Publications: Greece! Rome! Monsters!, and Pop-Up Aesop, both written by John Harris.I also collaborated with author Jonah Winter on Gertrude is Gertrude is Gertrude, illustrated The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for Harper Collins, and was included in Hip Hop Speaks to Children with CD: A Celebration of Poetry with a Beat, edited by Nikki Giovanni. The band Clementown recently set my first two books to music with their debut album Polkabats and Octopus Slacks the Music!"

My paintings and drawings have been shown in galleries in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and I was also included in "America Illustrated", the inaugural exhibit at the new National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome. I continue to give lectures and participate in juried competitions when I can, and have done so in Toronto, Oslo, Rome, New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Houston, Cleveland, Providence, Savannah, and Los Angeles.

I have taught illustration at Otis School of Art and Design, Art Center College of Design,
and Maine College of Art.
I live and work in beautiful Southern Maine.
