My work is inspired by being able to walk through the leaves on a forest trail, see the ideas and thoughts of others in films, books, art, and music, and watch my grade school daughter experience the world around her.
Artist books are works of art realized in the form of a handmade book. My bookwork is based on my relief prints. These relief prints start as sketches in my sketch book which are transfered to blocks that I carve from wood or linoleum. I use hand tools or an electric router to carve my images. My books are a combination of my prints, poems, origami (paper folding), pop-ups, handmade papers, beads, and linen threads. Most of my books are miniatures and can easily fit in the palm of your hand.
I work in my studio in the Black Hills of South Dakota home of the "four presidents" and the jackalope.
