Punch Needle Embroidery is often referred to as thread painting. Thread is punched through fabric with a hollow shaped needle that leaves tufted loops on top of the fabric.

Stitching is done from the back side with the loops stitched through the fabric leaving the texture on the front. It produces one-level or three dimensional designs to create dramatic textures and combination's, flat, looped, contoured, sculpted, trimmed, brushed or velvety plush raised pile.

Regular sewing threads can be used, cotton, metallic, rayon, embroidery floss, cotton polyester, or any threads that will flow freely through the needles.

It can be done directly on any tightly woven fabric or done separately and used as an applique to decorate jeans, sweats shirts, T-shirts, clothing, pillowcases, magnets, just about anything. The finished embroidery is machine washable and dry-able and very durable.

I also am listing some other crafts that I've made that are not punch embroidery.
