Cathartes Aura is the scientific name for the Turkey Vulture. I feel deeply connected to all vultures, particularly the local ones here to the bay area and especially to Africa's Griffon Vulture. Cathartes Aura is used for the name of my shop because it embodies the beauty, potential and renewal in all things. I feel like that is what I am doing here; taking items and objects once living or new, that have since passed or been discarded and turning them into works of art and sacred tools.

Vultures are our planets "recyclers", helping to transform death and decay into something new and beautiful. I feel like that is what I am doing here; taking items and objects once living or new, that have since passed or been discarded and turning them into works of art and sacred tools.

I am a young artist with a heart on fire, drawing inspiration from my spiritual practice and the worlds around me. I aim to bring places together betwixt a fusion of opposites-- trying to illuminate the beauty and awe in every detail of every day life to every day fantasy; as every day life is a fantasy in and of itself. I have a deep connection and love for animals of all kinds, one reason why I choose to incorporate animal remains into so many of my works. I like to honor the animals these items once were and provide a new meaningful purpose for their departed physical relics -- the embers of a being once vital and autonomous.

My work usually comes together organically as I work with it, the vision of its completed form becoming more clear with every tweak and addition. Within every piece is a great amount of love and care and I hope that if you choose to use any of the items listed that they serve you as well as they have served me in the process of their creation.
