About

Welcome to Cedar House Keepsakes! I'm Angela, and I love all things related to art, architecture, and graphic design. I worked in the architectural field for a number of years before starting my own virtual assistance business specializing in proofreading and editing. Now I've set up shop at Etsy so I can express my creative side!

My first offering is the "Hometown Pride" series, which was inspired by a major life-changing event. On May 22, 2011, a massive F-5 tornado struck the city of Joplin, Missouri. Although I now live in Springfield, I grew up in Joplin and will always consider it my hometown. It was devastating to see the destruction to my childhood home, church, high school, and many other places I held dear. It will be a long road to recovery for the people of Joplin, but I have faith that the city will emerge from this tragedy…

It will be a long road to recovery for the people of Joplin, but I have faith that the city will emerge from this tragedy.

Much of my family still lives in Joplin, and while I was very fortunate that none of them were injured in the storm, my mother's home sustained extensive damage. I spent many months helping her rebuild her life, and she's now adjusting to her "new normal."

During this journey, I've realized that all disaster survivors need a way to memorialize the things they've lost. To meet this need, I opened Cedar House Keepsakes, a website that features a collection of items produced by artists and craftspeople from across the country. Our purpose is to create personalized keepsakes that pay tribute to what disaster survivors have lost, and we're passionate about our cause.

Wanting to contribute my own artwork to the Cedar House Keepsakes collection, I created the "Hometown Pride" series of graphic art prints, which celebrate the love we all have for our respective cities and towns, as well as our precious homes and families. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity to support community recovery in Joplin and other areas in need.

"Hometown Pride" prints can be personalized and are available in a variety of styles, making them perfect gifts for weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings, graduations, and more. I also have plans for many new designs in the future, so please visit often!
