Kayla and Gary Sloan's Profile

About

So I was reading on the Etsy blog that a profile needs to have an interesting story or something fun like that. Cedar Wood Rustics is our shop filled with mostly wedding items. I love to see the pictures of happy couples, read excited brides emails and see pictures of the items that I put my heart into. Weddings are so special and I love hearing the story behind a couple or certain aspects of a wedding so to share a little part of us I will share the story behind how Gary and I met and became the super happy couple that we are now....

So I was reading on the Etsy blog that a profile needs to have an interesting story or something fun like that. Cedar Wood Rustics is our shop filled with mostly wedding items. I love to see the pictures of happy couples, read excited brides emails and see pictures of the items that I put my heart into. We actually met in high school. He was from another school and went to my high school certain days of the week to take an automotive class. We had flirted but I had a boyfriend and he was shy :-)

Fast forward...After graduation we lost touch. I went to nursing school and moved and Gary joined the Army and spent most of his time overseas.

Fast forward again..this new phenomenon called Facebook came out. Everyone tried to get me to get on this website and at the time a game called "Farmville" was a huge thing at my work. One of my friends begged me "Please join and get on my Farmville so I can get enough points to build a mansion". Annoyed from the relentless requests and at the fact that everyone at work was doing it (yes, I caved into facebook because of peer pressure) I joined. And no... I did not play Farmville. I did however find a lot of old high school chums, astranged family members ( who knew my great grannie even had a computer?) and a familiar face requesting me as a friend. I haven't seen that guy in 7 years I thought to myself. We emailed back and forth for awhile and caught up, exchanged numbers and finally set up a time for us to go on the first big date ( which was dinner and a movie The Hangover..great movie)

Fast forward once again..3 years later I'm walking down the aisle of a wedding that Gary and I had completely handcrafted and that is where my love of hand crafting wedding items came from. I hope that anyone can see the love that I put into every item. I craft it as I would have for my own wedding. So there is my VERY long story. I have a very blessed life and I am so lucky that I have had a chance to find love like this and the chance to work with wonderful Etsy customers ....and I am also thankful for facebook :-)
