I am a jewelry designer, living and working in Sudbury, Massachusetts. I earned a degree in Studio Art from Mount Holyoke College and have been working as a jeweler for the past seven years, and as a printmaker for nearly twenty years. I earned a degree in Studio Art from Mount Holyoke College and have been working as a jeweler for the past seven years, and as a printmaker for nearly twenty years. My website, www.celestelambert.com, features both of my mediums of work. It was through printmaking that I initially recognized the opportunity in designing jewelry. I had collected some beautifully figured wood veneer with the intent of using it for a substrate for a printed image. I realized that the naturally occurring designs within the wood were so evocative that I shifted my thinking towards ways in which to showcase them. Today, my diverse line of handcrafted bracelets are created through a process of steam-bending and layering wood veneer. As the jewelry collection has evolved, I have added stainless steel accents to complement the complexity and organic richness of the wood. I believe that wood jewelery is becoming incredibly popular, not only because of the beauty of natural materials, but because society as a whole is becoming committed to eco-friendly fashion. I am inspired by early American Shaker design, as well as modern architecture, both of which help drive my design process.
