About

For years, I thought that I didn't have any artistic talent. This was sad blow, coming from a family whose matriarch starting quilting the year after I was born and turned out masterpiece after masterpiece in cotton fabric and nylon thread. My mother caught the sewing talent, and could make any costume we liked just by looking at an example (I was the envy of many of my school mates each year at Halloween!). My middle brother upstaged everyone in his talent for storytelling with flair -- he could take a movie or a book and render you spellbound, no matter how much you claimed to dislike the subject, and always leave you disappointed when you read the book yourself. It was never quite as cool as his stories. My middle sister burst into flower with her artistic talent when she moved into her own place and discovered a flair for interior design. She can take any space and make it homey and her own with next to nothing for a budget…

She can take any space and make it homey and her own with next to nothing for a budget. Even my littlest brother displayed amazing artistic talents, being able to create (from the age of five) anything imaginable out of legos. And don't get me started on my littlest sister -- the artist/writer/sculptor/prodigy. So there I sat, 27 years old, surrounded by a family with talent bursting at the seams, and I couldn't even manage to dress myself fashionably.

Then, one fortuitous day, I sat down with a pair of round-nosed pliers and some glass beads. Several hours later, I sat looking at a collection of very pretty bracelets! I was pleased with my work, but felt at the time that it was, of course, only amateur stuff. Then folks started asking me where I picked up my stunning jewelry! The humble, "I made it myself" escaped my lips, and then burst forth an idea in my brain -- perhaps? Perhaps I am not so devoid of artistic talent as I thought! I returned to my work bench, creating custom-designed earrings for a good friend's girlfriend, a stunning Swarovski crystal birthstone rosary for a former employer, and various and sundry gifts for my friends and family at Christmastime. My grandmother, the self-same venerable lady who began quilting when I was a wee one, encouraged me to start posting my creations on Etsy, and I am thankful to this day that she did. :)

My other shop on Etsy is BeckyandPam: http://www.etsy.com/shop/BeckyandPam?ref=seller_info. Check it out, and read a little about my amazing baby sister! :)
