Julia Quinn's Profile

About

Hi my name is Julia Quinn an English girl living in France.
Jewellery has always been my great passion I love everything about it so it was no great surprise to anyone when I started a course at the Birmingham School of Jewellery in the famous 'Jewellery Quarter' in the UK. This is where I first learned my metalworking skills.

From these first early steps I soon found that I had a feel for defining the line and balance of a piece and a talent for design.
My liking for all things quirky means that my pieces do not always follow the beaten track.

January 2010 saw big changes happen to our little family when we decided to move from our comfortable lives in the UK and move out to the rolling hills of Normandy France to live amongst the French people and learn a little of their culture.

January 2010 saw big changes happen to our little family when we decided to move from our comfortable lives in the UK and move out to the rolling hills of Normandy France to live amongst the French people and learn a little of their culture.
My daughters attend French school I work part time in a hairdressing salon alongside two fab coiffeuses to help pay the bills. My husband Marcus is renovating our 300 year old stone farmhouse and is also my partner-in-crime making jewellery along side me in our hand-built jewellery studio in the garden.

Life as they say doesn't get any better than this. I won't pretend that it's not hard work at times but the benefits of living in this picturesque leafy green part of Normandy with it's abundant wildlife morning mists wild flowers and the pure clean air is well worth the occasional backward glance.
This amazing backdrop to our lives is the inspiration behind many of my pieces. Marcus on the other hand draws his inspiration from times past particularly the Victorian era.
If you take a look through the designs in the shop I'm sure you will be able to tell which of us has designed each piece
