About

Welcome to my Etsy page and shop, ElegantlyStoned26 (26 is the day of my birthday). I'm a bookkeeper/accountant and tax preparer, by profession (not actively preparing taxes, but still hold that certification!).

I am a native of southern California, living in the San Fernando valley all of my life, except 1 year. I have a grown daughter who is a natural-born artist (paint and draw very well) in her own right (take a gander at her Etsy shop, AmbiguousRoadkill, to see for yourself), and a young son who is in the U S Navy. I have 3 dogs, 7 cats, a pond with fish, and 2 parakeets whom I bet would rather be soaring the skies, than in a cage! I'm about 99% vegan, gave up all alcohol on December 26th, 2012, and could probably never ever give up coffee, my true poison!

I have phased in and out of jewelry making over the years, but vowed to take it up…

Welcome to my Etsy page and shop, ElegantlyStoned26 (26 is the day of my birthday). I'm a bookkeeper/accountant and tax preparer, by profession (not actively preparing taxes, but still hold that certification!).

I have phased in and out of jewelry making over the years, but vowed to take it up again, this time using higher grade semi-precious gemstones and sterling silver instead of fashion grade supplies. Previously, I had used silver plate and similar to create my pieces. With this in mind, my shop will feature items made with gemstones and sterling. If at any time I do NOT use such supplies, it will be specified in each and every listing. Credibility is important when dealing in e-commerce. Also please note that I buy from a reputable supplier, but even the best of vendor make mistakes from time to time. I strive to buy products that are quality and 'real'. There is so much material being cloned, dyed, modified, artificially duplicated, etc., out there. My intention is to deliver a product that gives my customers a value for their hard earned dollars!

I am also on LinkedIn as both an accounting professional and a jewelry maker. Just search my name, if interested.

I joined Etsy 6.26.11. It took me a while to figure out the site; but now I realize how it all works and the benefits of sharing 'good karma' even with those that you are competing with. Good work is good work! Having seen the ugly side of things in the corporate world, where often credit is not given where credit is due, it feels good to 'like' someone else's work, because we all want recognition for a job well done. Most people are really cool and reciprocate without hesitation. I am not here to steal anyone's designs or work, but I can admire. While I feel I do great work, I know there are many, many skilled craftsmen on this site; especially when it comes to jewelry.

I enjoy keeping relatively fit (work out regularly), being outdoors, knitting and crocheting, gardening, my pets, rock and roll music, to name a few. I am social but very straightforward. This leads me to be very independent in my thinking.

When my mother passed in 2002, I took many of her vintage items into my possession. At that time, I started up on eBay, selling off some of her items, while building my rating, and recycling the money back into completing her vintage sets of dishes and flatware (which I now have). I love and collect King's Crown "thumbprint" glassware items, in cranberry/ruby, and 3 particular sets of vintage flatware: Community's "Sheraton"; Holmes & Edwards "Jamestown"; and most importantly Rogers "Berkshire" pattern, the latter being very rare and highly collectible. I noticed listings here on Etsy and on eBay where the sellers often mistake similar patterns for Berkshire. It is very ornate and can be easily mistaken. Be careful if you collect this pattern before purchasing. If you have Berkshire to sell, please let me know.
