Hi! Welcome to the shop!

In lieu of writing some long profile page that no one wants to read, I’ve decided to put up some FAQ’s. Enjoy!

1. How did these soaps come about? What is your inspiration?

Well, the idea just sort of came about one day while studying, which isn’t that uncommon. I think it was just after the semester that we had taken immunology while I still had diseases fresh in the mind, and I had already taken a microbiology class as well. I was thinking of how hilarious it would be to wash your hands with a soap that looked like exactly what you were trying to wash off: bacteria.

I searched all over the internet to find anything that was similar, and once I found out that no one else made it, I felt it was my duty to bring to…

I searched all over the internet to find anything that was similar, and once I found out that no one else made it, I felt it was my duty to bring to the world petri dish soap.

The inspiration comes from the bacteria itself. The bacteria that the soaps are modeled after each differ in so many ways: growth patterns, color changes on any particular agar, and the many diseases that they are responsible for. Needless to say, they are actually very interesting specimens and a beautiful part of nature, making wonderful soaps haha.
So what better way is there to get rid of bacteria and germs, than to have soap that is a reminder of it?

2. Why are these soaps different?

Each soap is not poured into just some generic soap mold. Each soap is designed and handcrafted separately, giving soaps that are each unique. These soaps are more like mini pieces of artwork that are inspired by nature in one of its purest forms.

3. Who are you? Where are you from?

I’m currently a Pharm. D. (pharmacy) student from Houston, Texas, and I have been studying the sciences my whole life. I have also been creating since I can remember.

4. What ingredients do you use?

I use an all natural (100%) soap base for the majority of the soaps. The other soap bases also include aloe and olive oil, as well as natural honey… which is itself known to kill acne-causing bacteria! (Fun fact of the day)

5. Is there a funny, touching, or sad story behind your items?

Funny? Yes, absolutely. Touching or sad? I’m not so sure haha…

The funny part is just the obvious: you are washing your hands with “bacteria,” and all your friends will think you are awesome. Haha.

6. What makes your soap different?

You know, soaps usually just sit around… Sure, they always look nice and get used frequently, but when is your soap every the conversation piece? Who even talks about soap? When can soaps be given as legitimate gifts, leaving the recipient with a huge smile?

Your guests will most likely be like, “what ARE these??” at first, but then of course they will immediately think it’s hilarious (and they will also think you are the coolest for thinking of having such an awesome soap).

7. Where can I find your shop policies?

Policies are listed conveniently in the “Shop Policies” section of the shop. I would suggest reading this before buying, since it contains some important purchasing and shipping information.

8. Do you like feedback?

Yes! Cleaner Science absolutely loves feedback! And hearing where the soaps are going or why it’s being given as a gift is my favorite part! I really do appreciate the personal feedback, as it helps make the Cleaner Science shopping experience even better.

You may leave feedback after a purchase by using Etsy’s feedback system. You can find it by going to the “Feedback” section of your account on Etsy.

9. I’m dying to find out more, where can I find you and stay up to date?
