About

Hi. I'm Maggie.

Collard Dogs resulted from my passion for pooches, an obsession with unique prints and a love of functional, affordable, personality-reflecting pet accessories.

My husband Will and I fostered, then adopted, Cooper, a rather threatening looking Rottweiler. In order to soften his appearance and (hopefully) lessen our neighbors' fears that he would devour their toddlers, we started adorning him with fun, funky collars. I got such positive feedback I decided to sew them for friends and now, for you.

Hi.

I produce all of the collars in our Milford, Michigan home, usually supervised by our yellow lab Owen and pit mix Kip, and a foster dog or two.

All of the collars are martingale style. I like the way they work and I like the minimal hardware. The improved functionality and snappier look more than make up for the slightly more difficult construction and increase in materials. A martingale collar is fitted to the exact size of the dog's neck. Properly fitted, the collar will be comfortably loose when not in use. When the martingale loop is pulled, the collar should be snug, but should not constrict the airway. Martingales are safe for everyday use.

I typically produce 1.5" wide collars. They are meant to be functional fashion statements so the wider the better. That said, I am happy to take special requests and can accommodate any neck size, from yorkie to great dane.
