People often tell me my work is unique -- I attribute it to my art education background. The art ed majors were a bit marginalized when I went to art school -- the "real" artists were specializing in one field or another, while we had to learn about everything. There was a bit of a "those who can't do, teach" attitude, which always surprised me. But I'm grateful for the experiences! It shaped everything about my work, which draws from printmaking, enameling, metalworking, painting, and design disciplines.
I believe in clean design, clear strong colors, and rock solid construction. I believe that art is for everyone... that it's not ART with a capital "A", but rather something that people should love and enjoy in their everyday lives. And that our lives are made richer by the beauty that we create around us, whether that means Art in a frame, or something much more…
