Seven years ago I was inspired to explore design techniques while preparing to showcase my jewelry at a fair in my then hometown of Lucketts, Virginia. I was introduced to the ancient art of Chainmaille and was immediately smitten with both the process and the end result. If Knights of the Round Table come to mind you’re on the right track. Chainmaille was the earliest form of metal armor and was probably invented before the 5th century by the ancient Celts. Over time, the technique of “weaving” small metal rings of precious metals began to be used for jewelry as well.
For me, the feeling of creating a beautiful piece of sterling silver or copper jewelry that feels like silk on your skin is exquisite. Since the first time I picked up a set of pliers and began my first creation I was instantly and permanently addicted.
