About

Hi, my name is Stefanie. I'm a Dutch girl settled in London for more than a decade now. I am currently studying in London for my Masters in International Planning and Sustainable Development and am working at the same time. Having found Etsy enables me to give the activity that keeps me sane a home, and will hopefully fund my future projects. At the same time I find Etsy provides me with a huge source of inspiration.

I started knitting a few years ago as a form of therapy to relax me when I was having a hard time. I had learned all sorts of crafts from my mother when I was very little but hadn't done anything for quite a few years. I liked how I could do something relaxing but productive at the same time.

As much as possible I will knit using natural yarns of the highest quality and I am still learning a lot about different types of fibres and their production methods. Yarns that add value to a community, do little damage to the environment, but also that make the time and effort that go into handmade items worthwhile. I realise that this will be reflected in the price of my items and I know that I can't always compete with the much cheaper acrylic items out there. But it's a compromise I'm willing to make and if you do too you won't regret it!

My banner was created by my very talented friend Christel, who has recently opened up an Etsy shop called WATIETS with her creative partner Sarah: https://www.etsy.com/shop/WATIETS
