Jerolyn Crute's Profile

About

I enjoy going for walks in my neighborhood. The bright floral colors and fresh smells draw me close to the gardens and the carefully landscaped foliage next to buildings. I find the leaf of a simple bush to contain extraordinary beauty and complexity. During my walks I collect leaves or petals, some directly from a plant or some that have fallen to the ground. At home I scan and enlarge them. I alter the image to form original shapes that become paper sculptures, and ensure that astonishing patterns of leaves and petals are revealed. For fragile plants I may use stock photography. At times stock imagery is also used to capture and accentuate additional texture found in nature. Paper Arboretum is Crute Studio’s latest inspiration meshing hand-made artwork with the lovely aesthetic of nature enjoyed year round.
