I have collected Vintage Chenille Bedspreads for many years and love working with them to create beautiful pillows and quilts. Each quilt is made with cotton and one of a kind. Chenille is a very durable fabric and even though it is vintage it is capable of lasting for many more decades.
I always wash my chenille prior to construction as well as once the item is complete. I use Microsafe fluffy loft batting for the middle of all my quilts. Then they are backed with quilters quality cotton flannel.
Care for chenille quilts is very easy as they are machine washable and dryer safe. I personally use warm water on a gentle cycle and dry on low. If the quilt has brighter colors, I then of course would choose to wash with cold water to keep it nice and bright.
